Conferences:

Last year, Kathryn Leonard, through a frankly superhuman effort, put together a conference for women in math and science right here at Brown. It lasted for two days in the spring, and because of the VIGRE grant it was free for all who wanted to attend. It consisted of talks in math, applied math, biology, computer science and more, given by female professors and postdoctorates from Brown and nearby schools. There were also panel discussions on everything from preparing a good resume, to how to cope with being in a minority group in your academic field.

If you're feeling inspired, and would like to help organize something like this, we have a lot of working experience here! Along with a strong desire to see it happen again. So if you might be interested in helping out, let us know.
