Abstract: The 4th dimension has played a compelling role at the intersection of mathematics, aesthetics and philosophy. Tom Banchoff's work has been instrumental in the mathematical investigation of higher dimensions but has also helped bring the 4th dimension to those outside mathematics. Building on themes in Abbott's Flatland and Tom Banchoff's work, I will discuss the 4th dimension as a model that can enrich our understanding of the world around us and inform creative expression. The talk will highlight my own experiences working with Tom and beyond, and include art work by Tom Banchoff, myself, and several pioneering computer artists.
