Banchoff remains strongly associated with his alma mater, Notre Dame, and maintains his connections there through guest lectures and sabbatical visits Whenever he comes to the campus, he makes it a point to visit with Fr. Hesburg, president at the time Tom was in school there. On this occasion in October 2003, Tom and Kathleen served an afternoon mass in Fr. Hesburgh's office.
