Tom Banchoff with David Salesin in the fall of 1983 outside of Lucasfilm, where David had gone to work. Salesin, along with Banchoff and graduate student Steve Feiner, developed DIAL, a sequential animation language that was featured as a 1982 cover story in IEEE journal on computer graphics.
