A work of art is a corner of creation
as seen through a temperament
-Emile Zola
PERSPECTIVE:Escher also devoted himself to extending the limits of
perspective. He wanted to extend the traditional use of the vanishing point
by making both the zenith and the nadir (points immediately above the viewer's
head and below his/her feet) so that 180 degrees of imagery can be represented
in a flat, static scene. To execute the effect, he created curved lines
of perspective, which we see in #375 and #352. Essentially, he is working
them into a unified scene.
