Madeline L'Engle's children's book has been popular for the last
thirty-five years as a simple fable, a story of good defeating evil, and a
celebration of intellect conquering all. Meg, Charles Wallace, and Calvin
survive their adventures through strength of will and reasoning and faith
in one another--a unique concept in the world of children's literature.
Beneath this simple story lie many layers. L'Engle wove
spiritual, mathematical, and scientific concepts into her story. This
originality and daring are why the book's popularity persists. We have
examined this book's spiritual and mathematical layers, uncovering the
depth of L'Engle's message. We have also made propositions and
suggestions for a movie adaptation of this book, since we think that this
medium is just one other way to percieve the concepts presented in A
Wrinkle in Time.
