Information about Midterm 2 for Math 9.

 


 

Date and Time: Wednesday, November 10th from 7pm to 9pm.

 


 

 

Before the Midterm

Topics. The exam will cover all the topics through section 4.5 (included).

Preparing. Review your graded homework and quizzes. Look through your lecture notes. (Examples in the book and solution keys for the homework might also be useful).

Help. If you are not confident enough about a particular type of problems then ask in class, during Tuesdays’ sections, during office hours or at MRC. Additional office hours will be announced later.

Missing the exam. If on some reason you can’t make it to the exam (due to health issues, time conflict etc.) then please e-mail me well before Midterm 2. The earlier you notify me the more chances the issue could be resolved.

Additional time on the exam. This refers only to the students who have documentation from the DSS (Disability Support Services) that grants them additional time on the exam. You will need to start writing the midterm earlier than others; please, e-mail me before Midterm 2, and I will set up a time and place when you can come and start working on the midterm. You will need to e-mail me again, even if you have already e-mailed me before Midterm 1.

 

 

During the Midterm

Time. Midterm 2 will be held on Wednesday, November10th. 

From 7pm to 9pm.

Shortcut: if you enter Hunter Lab from Waterman Street then the Carmichael Auditorium will be right in front of you.

Questions. If you have a question about the problems in the midterm then raise your hand at any time during the exam. Someone will come and help you.

No Calculators. No calculators are allowed during the exam.

________________________________________

 

No Notes. The exam is ‘closed book’, so no books, notes or cheat-sheets are allowed during the exam.

 

 

After the Midterm

Grading. Graded midterms will be retuned in class on

Friday, November 12th.

________________________________________

 

Regrading. Please review your graded midterms in Friday’s class, and if you have any question about grading or grader’s comments then ask me right after the class.

Note:

1. You can only ask for regarding on Friday’s class.

2. You will not get points if you just guessed the answer, without showing work.

3. You will not get points for just writing down definitions at large, rather you should work on the very problem in the midterm.

4. You are discouraged to use technique, which wasn’t covered in the class yet (i.e. l’Hopital’s rule).
