Introduction:The Shape of Space

In the beginning there was nothing. Then the Creator said, "Let there be dimensions." And so the universe was born. Billions of years later, humans are struggling to grasp the basic nature of their reality: What is space? What is time? What is the universe's past? What is its future? How big is the universe? Does the universe have an edge? Humans gained many profound insights to these questions during the 19th and 20th centuries. The most fu ndamental questions, however, remain unanswered. This project outlines various ideas that have attempted to explain the nature of our universe.
