Dear Mr. Garnett,

I should not trouble you with this letter if it needed an answer; but I merely wish to give you the address of an old school fellow of mine, a First Class in the Classical Tripos and a neat methodical man -- in case application might be made to you for some one who could make extracts, verify references, translate at the British Museum, for those who cannot come to London. Mr. Chancellor was once a Fellow of this College; but weak health and a physique quite below the average have prevented him from making his way in life. I fear you may have even too many of such applications; but on the chance that it may not be so, I ante his name on the other side, and ask you to forgive my taking up your time.

Yours very truly

Edwin A. Abbott
