Contents

Begins with a review of fundamentals of calculus and includes infinite series, power series, paths, and differential equations of first and second order.

Exams

There will be two midterms and one final exam. Dates and times will be announced on this webpage, see below.

First Midterm

The first midterm will be in class on Wednesday October 13 / Thursday October 14/ Friday October 15. Your instructor will announce the exam room, this can be different from your regular class room. This midterm covers the substitution rule and Chapter 7. No calculators, books, notes, cellphones, iPods, iPads, etc., etc. are allowed. The following sheet contains a list of the trigonometric identies we expect you to know at the exam.

Li-Mei Lim has written a practice exam. Solutions can be found here. We advise you take this practice exam under `exam conditions' and only look at the solutions after you are done.

Second Midterm

The second midterm will be in class on Thursday November 18 / Friday November 19. Your instructor will announce the exam room, this can be different from your regular class room. This midterm focuses on differential equations (6.5, chapters 15 and 16) and sections 8.1 - 8.4, but you should be able to do the integrals from chapter 7 as well.

Li-Mei Lim has again written a practice exam. Use it to your advantage!

Final

The final exam is December 10, 2pm - 5pm. Sections 1 and 2 are in Barus and Holley 168, Sections 3, 4 and 5 are in Barus and Holley 166.

Li-Mei Lim has written a practice final. Use it to your advantage! We will not post solutions to this practice final, but feel free to ask your instructor questions if you do not understand a certain exercise!

Grade

Your grade is based on the homework, midterms and final. We will weigh these as follows. Homework: 20%, Midterm: 20% each, Final: 40%. If any curving is done (it need not be), it will only be done on your averaged grade.

Homework

Homework will be assigned every week, see below. Doing the homework is essential to succesfully completing this course. Although the homework only counts for 20% of your final grade, you should not expect to pass this course if you only do, say, half the assigned homework.

Calculators

Calculators are not required for this course, and they are not allowed on any exam. You make your own life easier if you do not use them for the homework exercises either.
