Title: Ribbonlength of folded ribbon knots

Abstract:  Take a thin rectangular strip of paper, tie a knot in it, and join the ends together. Then flatten the ribbon into the plane, origami style, with folds in the ribbons appearing at vertices of the knot. The ribbonlength is the length to width ratio of such a folded ribbon knot, and the ribbonlength problem asks to minimize the ribbonlength for a given knot type. In this introductory talk, we explain all of the key definitions, and give plenty of examples. We also give an overview of some of the current results about ribbonlength.
