Title: Veech Fibrations Abstract: Given a (sufficiently symmetric) translation surface, we'll explain how one can use it to build a complex surface (i.e. a 4-manifold); this complex surface fibers over a curve in M_g, and each fiber is a translation surface. We call this complex surface a Veech fibration. Our goal in this talk is to study the topology of a Veech fibration in terms of the geometry of its fibers, and explore some concrete examples. Our main result is an explicit computation of the topological invariants of Veech fibrations built from so-called "algebraically primitive Veech surfaces". This work is joint with Sam Freedman.
