"In case you're unfamiliar with LaTeX," Stopheles grumbles, "as I was before I did some research into the matter, \varphi named themselves after a code sequence for an alternate form for the Greek letter phi."
"Oh, for the love of... Did these nerds ever leave their parents' basements?" Blackwell sputters incredulously.
"Years of darkness have probably fouled up their circadian rhythms; not that they'll need them here," remarks Blancwell, rolling his eyes.
"It took a while to come up with an appropriate response to this level of geekiness, but once R&D developed these printers, the problem solved itself," says Stopheles as he points to a hunter reluctantly approaching the printer. In a surprising turn of events, the printout has live tigers where all of the phis should be, which take turns biting the math student in front of them. Scanning the room, you see printouts emerging covered in machine guns, sharks, sentient broken glass, and-- wait, what's with that grid on one of the screens? It's covered with lots of copies of the same symbol... a bunch of little ones and one big one.
