Chapter 7 : Configuration Spaces
Study Questions and Projects
- Discuss a configuration space that shows up in some activity that you are passionate about, for example a sport or a hobby. How does your chosen example relate to the examples in the book?
- Construct two or three dimensional artworks similar to those in "Configuration Spaces of Segments and Lines." Describe configuration spaces of your artworks.
- What is the generalized formula for Pythagorean Theorem? Can you prove it using mathematical induction? Try using the Pythagorean Theorem to prove 3-dimensional case.
- Take an example of configuration spaces in this chapter (or come up with your own), then challenge groups of two (or more) students to communicate using that coordinate system. For example, let Student A randomly pick a set-up of a stage lighting, then tell Student B (using only stage lighting configuration space system) to duplicate the same set-up.
