A WRINKLE IN TIME

by

Madeleine L’Engle

Madeleine L’Engle’s classic, A Wrinkle in Time, is read by many elementary school and junior high students across the nation in their reading and literature classes. This web-page will focus on the ways that math teachers can use this book in their classroom as a springboard for getting their students to understand some key mathematical concepts. Although another section of this A Wrinkle in Time project has focused on some mathematics inconsistencies in L’Engle’s book, she does address some important ideas about the development of dimensionality that would be great to introduce to kids especially at a young age so they will not be scared to tackle these issues at a more complex level when they get older.

This teachers’ resource page is divided into several feature pages for your convenience. We hope that you will find this page useful in making your classroom a vibrant, interdisciplinary experience for your students. Hopefully, with the release of a new animated version of A Wrinkle in Time sometime in the near future, these concepts could be adapted to using, not only the book, but the movie in the classroom as well.
