Someone gave me this one-volume encyclopedia as a graduation present. I guess it's just one of those things people feel will enrich a person's college experience. And in a way, I guess the book really has improved my life. After all, I no longer have access to the out-of-date set of encyclopedias on the bookshelf in the guest bedroom at home, and it's a long cold walk to the Rock. Granted, this encyclopedia only has a paragraph or two for every entry, but it is the self-proclaimed "Best Desk Encyclopedia".
