ABSTRACT

What is different about the way we answer the question in the title now, as compared to ten or twenty years ago? At each of those times, it seemed that mathematicians were more confidant about their answers. After all, mathematics had been around for a long time and the content of courses had not undergone much change. But now, over the past decade in particular, the pace of change has changed so greatly that it is hard to imagine how to predict what will be expected ten years hence.
