Dates: no class September 17. Also note that October 8 is a Brown break (Columbus Day) and November 23 is Thanksgiving break. Brown is open November 12 (Veteran's Day) and November 21 before noon, and I do plan to hold class.

Midterm: October 24 in class.

Grading: there will be one midterm, one final, and weekly homework with possible projects.
Your final grade will be weighted as follows: Homework 30% Midterm 30% Final 40%.
Your lowest homework grade will be dropped. You may work in groups, but you must write your own solutions to homework problems. Exams are strictly individual.
